
This page and it's sister page were created to illustrate the problems with copyright on the World Wide Web. The only difference between these two pages is in the location of the logo below. In one case, the logo has been copied form the original owners machine onto the local machine running the web server and link has been made to this local copy. I would contend that this could be a violation of any copyrights the owners of the image had, as a copy had been produced and moved to the local machine. In the other case, the original image remains on the original owner's machine. It appears on this page a merely a link to that location. I woudl contend that, as no copy has been made, this would not constitute copyright infringement. At best, it could be considered theft of resources (bandwidth). But even this contention would seem shakey as the image was published on the original web site and anyone who wanted it was/is free to view it as part of their pages. Here it is:
