Viewing and Retiring Your Character

Viewing Character

When you have finished generating your character, you see the Main Menu for the Character Management System. In addition to allowing you to create a new persona, the Character Manager lets you view your character's stats and skills/spell circles. Before venturing into Elanthia, it is a good idea to double-check these stats and take note of any spells learned, particularly if you have chosen the Quick Gen option, since this will be your first opportunity to view your auto-generated ratings and skills.

Retire Character/Family

Once you have created your first Gemstone III persona or any time you go back into the Character Manager, you may check stats or skills as described above, or choose option 3 to create a new persona. In order to do so, you must retire or reroll your present character. There are two ways this can be accomplished.

You may retire your current character by choosing the Retire option, and retiring yourself only, that is by choosing a new first name, while keeping your family name. This preserves any fame you have acquired for transfer to the next generation. Nothing else pertaining to your current character, -- levels, skills, or possessions -- will be transferred to the new character.

Retire Entire Family

You may wish, for reasons of your own, to retire your entire clan or lineage. This means you will choose two new names, a family name and a given name. This option forfeits all fame or property you have acquired. You are basically starting over, as though you had never existed previously in the game.
